COURSE OBJECTIVE:

The Lifeboatmand/Proficiency in Survival Craft couse covers all of the subject areas and material contained in the International Convention of Standards of Training, Certification ans Watchkeeping of Seafarers (STCW 1995) Table A-V1/2-1 as well as the subjects identified in 46 CFR 12.10-5, and is substantially similar to IMO Model Course 1.23 Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats.

Upon successful completion of this course the trainees will be able to:
  • operate life-saving appliances
  • take charge of a survival craft or rescue craft during and after launch
  • operate a survival craft engine
  • manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship
  • use locating devices, including communication and signaling apparatus and pyrotechnics
  • apply first aid to survivors
